Home Construction (Day 56 - October 1)

Today we didn't visit Uchi AGAIN!  : (

We had to pack our backpacks & gear for camping -- ensure that we had food for 2 days in the wild, and enough warm clothes.

We decided it would be more important to pack for the camping instead of visiting Uchi. Lately it takes us longer to visit Uchi because sometimes we meet our neighbors and end up talking with them for hours. But Uchi is really homey now, and we like staying inside and thinking about how we're going to decorate it.   : )

But definitely we won't skip visiting Uchi tomorrow : )

Home Construction (Day 55 - September 30)

We didn't visit Uchi AGAIN -- yup we are officially bad house-parents now.

But today it was raining, so we didn't think they would do any work. After work, we were in a hurry to meet our camping group, who would go with us this weekend to camp in the Boundary Waters between MN and Canada. We had to plan the places & times for meeting with them on Friday and driving up to the campsite, so that we could all car-pool together and fit all our gear into a big truck.

We also need to figure out who had all their camping stuff, and who was still missing some gear -- so that we could borrow from each other. Bad news:  Russian doesn't have a rain jacket for this trip. We knew for sure that it would be raining this weekend.

So, after the meeting at Perkins (kind of like IHOP), Russian and I decided to shop at REI to check their sale items. After that it was too dark to visit Uchi!  : (

This is our long long story/excuse for not visiting Uchi today.

Sorry Uchi.

But at least we all have rain jackets now and we know that

Home Construction (Day 54 - September 29)

So after yesterday's absence, one of us went to visit Uchi today.

It turned out, yesterday's absence was not bad since nothing was done inside Uchi. The only thing they did was smoothing our driveway:

Trust us, nothing was changed inside Uchi.

Today we didn't visit Uchi - we both forgot the reason why we didn't go there ......

Home Construction (Day 52 - September 25)

Big progress happened to our Uchi today!

They started the frame for the stair's railing...   we cannot wait until Monday to see our railing:

We also have our kitchen cabinets now - they are not quite done yet. We now can see how each our room will be painted and decorated. You can also see our fireplace:

Our second floor has trim already

Yesterday we said we didn't have any upgrades - but actually, the white trim is one of our upgrades to Uchi. I like the trim having the same color as our stairs and kitchen cabinets!

It looks nice, right?   : )

All the second floor rooms have doors now - including the closet doors.

 

See we have a closet in the small bedroom now!

Also, doors to each of our rooms!

First floor:
Floors for hallways, laundry room, front foyer, bathroom, kitchen and dining room are DONE!
Frame for stairway railing is DONE!  (No iron railing posts yet...)
Fireplace is DONE!  Completely!
Kitchen cabinets are ALMOST DONE, except the one for our double ovens.

Second Floor:
Doors for rooms and closets are DONE!!
Trim is DONE!!!
Cabinets for bathrooms are installed! (No actual counter tops yet...)
