Home Construction (Day 51 - September 24)

It has been 2 days since we have not seen our Uchi - the longest time ever!  We are quite excited to see the progress on Uchi.  It must be a completely different building now!  It probably grew legs and walked away.

So we got there, and the first thing we noticed is that they completed the landscaping.  They covered our beach sand with soil - although we won't be able to do our actual landscaping until next year. Our Uchi will be completed in November, and we could not find any company or contractors willing to sod at that time.  (They said it would be far too cold for sodding or planting).  So we have to leave our landscaping until next year in April -- which gives us some time to collect money for it!

What you see here today will be what our landscape looks like until Spring comes:

The soil has been placed on top of our beach sand

We also noticed the top part of the window is completed - no more siding will be added. We are still waiting for the day they complete the last window on the front of Uchi. We heard from the neighbors that that's pretty much the last thing they do (not sure why).

Today was the first time they locked our home - so we have to request a key from now on to enter our home.

The foyer is done (this is by the front door - where the guests will take off their shoes). We are quite happy with the color and this will be good since dirty snow from people's shoes will be cleaned near in here.

We have piles of boxes for trim, door, stairs, kitchen cabinets and bathrooms cabinets.

This is the reason they started locking our Uchi now - there are far too many expensive building materials inside Uchi!

All the vinyl floors are done, which includes the laundry room, kitchen, bathroom

Llike we said at the beginning of this home construction, we didn't do any upgrades to Uchi. We would like to keep Uchi cheaper and as easy to clean as possible. We think vinyl will be great for our kitchen, foyer, laudry and bathrooms - easy to wipe. Maybe one day we will upgrade all of this to tile.

This is our kitchen and dining room!  Pretty, in the eveining, huh?

There are bunches of boxes in the living room, too.
Somewhere back there is a fireplace!

We almost didn't notice it, because of all the boxes covering it.
The colors we picked turned out to be quite cute!

As we said, the landscaping has widened our backyard more - we now just realize that our backyard and our side yards are quite big. Poor Russian has to mow all these someday...  fortunately, not until next spring!
